QPS Police Officer Recruitment Process: Assessing Your Suitability

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) recruitment process is designed to assess an applicant’s suitability to become a police officer based on their ability to meet the genuine occupational requirements and demands of a general duties police officer.

1. Initial Eligibility Assessment and QPSea Requirements

If you have successfully completed the initial eligibility assessment and meet the QPS Entrance Assessment (QPSea) requirements, you will be invited to submit your application for the next stages of the recruitment process. The Queensland Police Service will invite you to undertake further assessments in order to evaluate your qualifications and suitability for the role.

2. Additional Assessments

Once invited, you must successfully complete all assessment requirements and since you are competing against other applicants, the better you perform in each area, the stronger your chances of selection will be.

3. QPS Recruitment Assessments

The QPS recruitment assessments include the following:

  • Panel Interview: A comprehensive interview to assess your communication skills, motivation, and alignment with QPS values.
  • Pre-Employment Medical Screening: A thorough medical examination to ensure you meet the QPS Health Standards (refer to the Health Standards extract).
  • Integrity Vetting: A background check to assess your integrity and suitability for the role.
  • Psychological Assessment: A psychological evaluation to determine your mental fitness and ability to handle the demands of the job.
  • Physical Assessment: A series of physical tests to assess your physical fitness and ability to perform essential job duties.
